SoGEA, FTTC & FTTP

What is SoGEA?
SoGEA stands for single order generic Ethernet access. Sounds complicated, but it’s basically a high-speed broadband service that doesn’t require a traditional PSTN phone line, making it an ideal solution for businesses that only need internet access.
What is FTTC?
FTTC, or fibre to the cabinet, provides faster download speeds than traditional ADSL connections. How? By using fibre-optic cables to connect to your nearest cabinet. Fibre-optic cables are a lot faster than copper, making this a big upgrade on ADSL.
What is FTTP?
FTTP, or fibre to the premises, provides an “all fibre” connection that runs fibre-optic cables direct to your premises. There are no copper wires involved at all, and this makes it even faster and more reliable than FTTC.
Leased Lines
FTTC, FTTP and SoGEA are great solutions for many businesses. But for the most data-hungry, leased lines are pretty much the peak of business connectivity, delivering enterprise-grade speed, bandwidth, security and reliability.
What are leased lines?
A leased line is an uncontended Ethernet connection – in other words, it’s supplied solely to your business so there’s no competition for bandwidth. Upload and download speeds are symmetrical, keeping performance consistently high all day.
Who are they for?
Leased lines are for data-hungry businesses. That includes larger enterprises, but they’re also worth considering for smaller businesses that frequently host video calls or transfer very large files. They also come with 24/7 support. If minimising downtime is a major concern, this is another benefit.
4G and 5G dongles
Need a temporary internet connection? How about a backup for your main connection? Or perhaps reliable broadband isn’t available in your area yet? 4G & 5G dongles have a lot to offer. These routers use mobile networks to provide internet access.
That makes them ideal for all sorts of businesses. They’re very quick to install as a temporary solution while you wait for a more permanent connection. Alternatively, you can use them as a backup when your primary connection fails. They’re also great for businesses in remote areas where reliable broadband is hard to come by.
